Special Overlay District for Eklutna Village

On March 14, 2015, the Board of Directors approved a resolution supporting a Municipal Ordinance creating a special Overlay Zoning District at Eklutna village. This Ordinance preserves the importance of the last continuously inhabited Dena’ina village in Anchorage, allows more than one dwelling on a lot provided safety and health concerns are addressed, and outlines allowable uses, reducing undue hardship in maintaining the traditional lifestyle of Eklutna people and their descendants. Conservation Easement

On February 7, 2015; the Board of Directors accepted a quit claim deed to the Conservation Easement of four parcels formerly owned by Wells Fargo in Eklutna Village. This property is popularly known as part of the Eklutna Knobs, significant to Eklutna people and history. The Knobs are directly related to a very old traditional Creation Story of Eklutna, known throughout the region.
